Italy Part 4: Florence - The Duomo
Florence's skyline is dominated by the Duomo, a 14th century cathedral in the heart of the old city. It is massive, and it's nearly impossible to get the whole thing in one picture!
l-r: Baptistery, Duomo (well, the top of the dome, anyway), and tower

The front is so ornate!
The doors

The dome. See the people near the top? We climbed up there. It was something like 460 steps up a narrow spiral staircase.
That dome is the landmark that lets me recognize Florence (in photos, that is.) Look at the artistry and craftsmanship in those buildings! Please explain that fifth photo. It looks like a crane is dropping a dumpster on top of the Duomo - and I'm pretty sure that's not what's going on there. Is it a street lamp or something that I'm seeing?

Yes, I was standing next to the corner of a building that has a street lamp hanging off it. :)
Magical building and well taken photos.
